Unlock R750 Transport Aid from SASSA on 20 Dec: Your Opportunity If Unemployed!

The R750 Transport Aid program is one of the first of many government initiatives aimed at finally integrating all unemployed individuals aged 18-59 years into the workforce.   • Have South African citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee status along with a valid ID 
  • Have no dependable source of income 
  • A registered mobile number will be compulsory along with the banking details. The SASSA will prioritise the registration of those who have already gone through the following methods:
  • SAYouth.mobi
  • Labour Department job centers
  • SETA’s training programs
  • Community employment projects )

The Importance of Transportation Assistance

Transportation remains a major concern for unemployed individuals. The cost of transport to attend meetings, exhibitions, and workshops is about R40-R120 for each occasion. 

A small portion of the R750 can be used for:

  • Taxi or bus fares
  • Transport for interviews
  • Travel to training centers
  • Visiting Home Affairs or SASSA for documents updating
  • Getting internet and jobcentre access

With the festive season approaching, the likelihood of the retail, logistics, security, and hospitality sectors hiring more workers will be higher thus December will become a very crucial month for the job seekers.

Steps to Receive R750 Transport Support

Application reception will take place through these four service groups:

  • SASSA’s online services portal
  • Your local SASSA office
  • Community advice centers that partner with SASSA
  • Mobile outreach campaigns in rural areas
  • The applicants will have to produce:
  • Certified copy of ID
  • Proof of unemployment or engagement in job-seeking activity
  • Bank name and account number
  • Current mobile number
  • Motivation or evidence of interview/training (if available)

Applications received on and before 18 December will only be processed and the processing will also be in line with the payout on 20 December.

Payment Collection Methods

SASSA will deposit the R750 directly into beneficiaries’:

  • Bank accounts
  • Approved mobile money wallets
  • Or allow collection at retail partners such as Shoprite, Checkers, and Boxer

Funds remain available after the payment date, meaning applicants do not need to rush on the first day.
