SASSA December 2025 Payments: What Still Remains After the Mid-Month Verification Checks

SASSA has executed the verifications successfully in the middle of the month. One month with the year 2025 is just around the corner. The verification process is all about discerning the beneficiaries still qualified for grant collection and those who need re-verification. The agency has already pointed out that Christmas is the hardest period since it has to pay out grants amounting to millions. That is why it has issued a notice specifying the payments that are left, potential delays, and what procedures the beneficiaries have to follow to ensure that the process is not interrupted.

Who is the one that is constantly affecting the situation even after the mid-month verifications?

In order to prevent fraud, SASSA does a thorough cross-check of each beneficiary’s identity and bank account every December. Additionally, SASSA has also been looking into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts to verify their identities. The cross-checks took place from December 10 to 14 this year, and the following grant categories were involved:

  • Older Persons Grant
  • Disability Grant
  • Child Support Grant
  • Foster Care Grant
  • Care Dependency Grant
  • SRD R370 Grant

Even though the majority of accounts have undergone successful verification, still a fairly large number of beneficiaries are classified as pending or incomplete verifications, which means their payments will be delayed until they take the necessary actions.

Payments not made for December

SASSA earlier communicated that at the start of the month, most of the grants had already been paid but the agency still confirmed that payment rounds are in progress:

  1. SRD R370 Rolling Payments Social Relief of Distress grant disbursement is still being executed in decay batches. Those beneficiaries whose verification has been cleared after December 15 will receive their R370 before the end of the month. Beneficiaries with statuses “pending,” “referred,” or “bank verification in progress” will be notified as soon as the system updates their information.
  2. Late Clearances for Older Persons & Disability Grants The late biometric of some pensioners and disability grant beneficiaries will result in their R2,180 or R2,200 deposits being made during the next release window. SASSA has assured that by the latest date 22 December all the cleared accounts will be paid.
  3. R130 Top-Up Boost (Festive Relief Payment) The December top-up of R130 for successful verifications, which was one of the government’s holiday season assistance, will still be given out. The beneficiaries can expect the payment during 15–20 December, depending on bank delays.
  4. Child Support & Foster Care Backlogs Confirming that SASSA will not lose any granted child support, parents who postponed verification will receive their December payments in the last payment wave.

SASSA has made the announcement about delays in social grants payment in December and listed the reasons for the delay as follows:

  • The very last step in the process when the money transfer fails is when the bank account is either wrong or doesn’t exist at all.
  • Next in the sequence is the case when the ID and bank information are not the same.
  • The subsequent step is when the beneficiaries are having troubles, and therefore, they are under “payment pending” or “processing” statuses until SASSA completely updates their details.

SASSA Monthly Reasons December 2023

SASSA dished out a couple of points for the delays in December for the public as the body responsible for the provision of social services. The last reason given was that the banks were experiencing a heavy workload because of the festive season.People with unresolved problems will get messages like “payment pending” or “processing” until their information is updated.
