The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has come up with a payment schedule for December 2025 which has resulted in the clients being informed of the benefit payments of R2,090 for Old Age Pension, R530 for Child Support and R2,150 for Disability respectively. The agency has pointed out that the month of December usually experiences the heaviest cash withdrawals, thus they have requested the public to make adequate preparations and reassured that no one will have problems with the payments.
Reasons for early release of payments for Sekomani include the following
Every year SASSA overestimates its December payout for the following reasons:
- Holidays disrupt the payment cycle
- Banking is slow during the holiday season
- Long waits for people at shops and ATMs
- Increased cases of fraud and theft of cards
The scheduling of the payments had been such that all the clients would have received their grants before Christmas. There would still be the usual three-payments system, but the specific dates had been moved ahead to make them earlier than the traditional ones.
December 2025 Payment Dates
SASSA has given a provisional schedule for payments in the month of December:
- Older Persons Grant: R2,090The elderly will have the first right to the old age pension, thus the queues will be shorter and they can buy their essentials with cash earlier. The benefits that are dependent on the old age pension, such as Grant-in-Aid, will also be disbursed on that day.
- Disability Grant: R2,150Disability grant recipients who are looked after by senior citizens will receive the grant after the old-age grant.
- Child Support Grant: R530 and Other Remaining GrantsWith the Child Support Grant, the government has finally come to the social help schemes together with the foster care grants, and thus the remaining beneficiaries. Mainly the poorest part of the population is served by this category; henceforth, the early withdrawal has been recommended owing to the mammoth transactions.
SASSA has announced the planned sequence of the disbursement. However, it also cautions the customers that the time that the funds reflecting differs according to the bank, the type of card and also the area where the retail withdrawal is done.
